Circle Time songs--videos--Important new stuff!

These are 3 of the 4 songs we do for circle time (not counting "Here We Are Together"--welcome song). We are not doing the counting/numbers song yet--I thought it would be best to help them learn these first and then introduce the counting song when we start numbers. I also changed Weather to be right after welcome song--that way, Today's date and Days of the Week are together.

Final order of Circle time:
1. Welcome song--Here we are together (Children's songbook); "ducky" hand motions, point to each child with your hands as you sing all 8 names..."in our preschool class" (not primary!)
2. Weather--Ask a child to tell what the weather is today. Place card on board. (I found weather die cut shapes at dollar tree--they're going in the bin).
3. Today's Date--"Today is Tuesday (they repeat), September 8th (they repeat). Yesterday was Monday (they repeat), tomorrow will be Wednesday (they repeat)." Sing to "Frere Jacques."
4. Days of the week song--See above--"Addams Family" tune.
5. Months of year song--See video above.
6. ABC Song--Alphafriends--video of Clarissa won't upload! I'm sorry! Just watch Clarissa teach it on your upcoming teaching day.
7. Happy Birthday, if any.

Modified Daily Schedule (after this week, I think THIS is the best schedule)
9-9:10--Free play/arrival
9:10-9:30--Circle time
9:30-10--Letter of the week
10-10:10--Free play/bathroom (25 minutes was WAY too long--if you want to do snack, add five minutes--so far, none of them have complained about being hungry)
10:10-10:15--Cleanup free play toys
10:15-10:50--Theme lesson (and optional free play while you clean up theme lesson, 5 minutes)
10:50-11--Round up (song, book, review of today's lesson)
11-11:20--lunch (1/2 an hour was too long for lunch--NEW PICK-UP TIME--11:20!!!)

Well, the first week was GREAT! Be sure to look in their backpacks for their work. If they didn't finish tracing the words in their little books, you can help them with that.

Here are your kids today, minus Erin who was sick:(

Next week, Sasha's house! Don't forget--we need copies of the Mead alphabet pages for homework to send home! Spend a LOT of time teaching them to hold pencils and trace! LOTS! And cutting, too. Help them learn to SIT on their carpet squares until circle time is done--the helper mom is great for this. Good luck!
